  1. An executor in law, is a person appointed in 
  2. a will to carry out the instructions of the 
  3. deceased. A person so named has the right to 
  4. refuse to act. The executor also has a duty 
  5. to bury the deceased, prove the will, and 
  6. obtain a grant of probate (that is, establish 
  7. that the will is genuine and obtain official 
  8. approval of his or her actions).
